Learn how to make Google Chrome your homepage. Step 2: Change your homepage to Google In the Appearance section, click the button next to Show Home button, then click the blue link Change. Delete the text in the box, which is either about:blank or another website. Then type www.google.co.uk in the box. Click OK to save your changes.

Here's how to change your home page in the new Microsoft Edge :

  1. Open Microsoft Edge, select Settings and more > Settings .

  2. Select Appearance.

  3. Turn on Show home button.

  4. You can either choose New tab page or select Enter URL for a page that you want to use as your home page.

Internet Explorer 11

  • Next to When Firefox starts, open the drop down menu and select Show my home page. Type www.google.com in the Home Page box, and click OK to save.
  • Choose your homepage. You can control which page appears when you tap Home. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app. At the top right, tap More Settings. Under 'Advanced,' tap Homepage. Choose Chrome’s homepage or a custom page.

  1. In the top corner of Internet Explorer, select Tools , and then select Internet options.

  2. On the General tab, under Home page, enter the URL of the site you want to set as a homepage. You can add more than one URL. Or, to add the site you're currently viewing, select Use current. If you add more than one URL, put each URL on its own line.

  3. Select Apply, and then select OK.

Google Chrome

  1. Open Google Chrome, then select the three, vertical dots next to the profile icon.

  2. Select Settings, then under Appearance, turn the toggle for Show home button to on.

  3. Choose the option you'd like to use: New Tab page or Enter custom web address.

Firefox

  1. Open Firefox, then select the three, horizontal lines next to the profile icon.

  2. Select Options, then select the Home icon.

  3. Under New Windows and Tabs, select the dropdown next to Homepage and new windows.

  4. Choose the option you prefer: Firefox Home (Default), Custom URLs, or Blank Page.

Safari

  1. Open Safari, then choose Safari > Preferences, then select General.

  2. In the Homepage field, enter a wepage address. To simply use the webpage you're currently viewing, select Set to Current Page.

  3. Choose when your homepage is shown.

    • Open new windows with your homepage: Select the New windows open with pop-up menu, then choose Homepage.

    • Open new tabs with your homepage: Select the New tabs open with pop-up menu, then choose Homepage.

Microsoft Edge on Windows 10, Version 1511 or later

Users won't be able to change this once this policy is set.

  1. Open the Group Policy Management Console (gpmc.msc) and switch to editing any existing policy or creating a new one.
  2. Navigate to Administrative TemplatesWindows ComponentsMicrosoft Edge.
  3. Double-click Configure Start pages, set it to Enabled, and enter https://www.bing.com/business
  4. Enforce the resultant GPO by linking it to the appropriate domain.

Google Chrome on Windows XP SP2 or later

You'll also need the latest Google policy file, which you can find on Google Chrome Enterprise Help.

If the settings described in this section can't be found inside of GPMC, download the appropriate ADMX and copy them to the central store. Central store on the controller is a folder with the following naming convention:

%systemroot%sysvol<domain>policiesPolicyDefinitions

Each domain your controller handles should get a separate folder. The following command can be used to copy the ADMX file from the command prompt:

Copy <path_to_ADMX.ADMX> %systemroot%sysvol<domain>policiesPolicyDefinitions

  1. Open the Group Policy Management Console (gpmc.msc) and switch to editing any existing policy or creating a new one.

  2. Make sure the following folders appear in the Administrative Templates section of both User/Computer Configuration: Google Chrome and Google Chrome - Default Settings (users can override).

    • The settings of the first section are fixed and the local administrator won't be able to change them.
    • The settings of the latter section of policies can be changed by users in their browser settings.You should decide if users can override your default setting. In the following steps, change in the setting in the folder that corresponds to your organization policy and needs. The steps below use the Google Chrome - Default Settings as the default.

  3. Navigate to <Computer/User Configuration>Administrative TemplatesGoogle Chrome - Default SettingsHome Page.

  4. Double-click Use New Tab Page as homepage, and set it to Enabled.

  5. Navigate to <Computer/User Configuration>Administrative TemplatesGoogle Chrome - Default SettingsNew Tab Page.

  6. Double-click Configure the New Tab Page URL, set it to Enabled, and enter https://www.bing.com/business?form=BFBSPR

  7. Enforce the resultant GPO by linking it to the appropriate domain.

Users can still change the home page after this policy is set.

  1. Open the Group Policy Management Console (gpmc.msc) and switch to editing any existing policy or creating a new one.

  2. Navigate to User ConfigurationPreferencesControl Panel SettingsInternet Settings.

  3. Right-click on Internet Settings and select Internet Explorer 10.

    Note

    You need to select the option of Internet Explorer 10 to apply the settings for Internet Explorer 11 as the same settings apply to Internet Explorer 11.

  4. Settings which are underlined in red are not configured at the target machine, while settings underlined in green are configured at the target machine. To change the underlining, use the following function keys:

    F5 - Enable all settings on the current tab

    F6 - Enable the currently selected setting

    F7 - Disable the currently selected setting

    F8 - Disable all settings on the current tab

  5. Press F8 to disable all settings before configuring anything. The screen should look like this:

  7. Enforce the resultant GPO by linking it to the appropriate domain.
